College theater friends and I discovered that singing “I’m just a little black rain cloud” from Winnie The Pooh a few times banishes all other songs and then just quietly sees itself without any issue or getting stuck. I don’t understand how or why it works but I’ve been successfully using it for 20+ years.

Kettlebells are often usually sold out and overpriced. I did manage to snag a 25lb Amazon Basic one at a reasonable price (~$35) a while back. It was backordered and estimated to ship in like two months time. But it let me purchase it. And it arrived in about 10 days. Woo-hoo!

Yeah. A bunch of years ago I had a friend who got a nasty type of cancer. He had surgeries and chemo and lost a bunch of weight. He said that people kept complimenting him that he looked so thin, in a way that made it out to be a good thing. He added that the comments made him question what he had looked like before.

Yes! There is no reason to give up playing just because you have an IRA/401K/mortgage/whatever junk you think qualifies you as a “mature adult”. People who don’t play are boring.

You could get kid related stuff. A yo-yo, some silly putty, a Lego set (they have all sorts of awesome options), some matchbox cars or playdough are all pretty cheap (well, some of the Lego sets are crazy expensive). And they’re all fun to play with. Don’t be ashamed. Give yourself a spending limit and wander through

I grew up in a family with a refrigerator without an ice maker. We had the “three ice cube rule”. If, after you took some ice, there were less than three ice cubes left in the bin, you had to empty the ice cube trays into the bin and refill them with water. There were times when I took less ice than I would have liked

I’m single and regularly gone from the house for 12 hours each day. I have two cats. They keep each other company and don’t seem to mind (too much) when I get home.

A majority of my masks are this kind. I like the type that has a single string that goes down one side of the mask, forms a loop you put over your head/behind your neck, up the other side of the mask and then the two ends tie behind your head. I put a cable lock on the two ends and just cinch it as tight as needed.

I have a friend who had Covid-19 back in early March (real, confirmed via the uncomfy nose swab test). He got it at a fundraiser event (back when it was okay to still do those in person) and they’re pretty sure they know who he got it from. He isolated in a spare room at his home and recovered after a couple of weeks

It seems like a history museum could be built at/near Stone Mountain. Relocate the area’s other statues and memorials to that location and call out the carving on the mountain. That puts the carving in context and fulfills the intent of removing the monuments to someplace where they can be put in context and educate

I have a friend who used to do that but he got sick of the duct tape coming off, particularly when traveling in hot/humid areas. He spray painted his initials on the suitcase he checks. It’s not pretty, but it works very well.

I read an article that some Georgia Tech students came up with a method of testing masks. I don’t remember the distances, but basically you put the mask in front of a mirror with a spray bottle full of water behind it. You spray the spray bottle. If the mirror stayed dry, the mask if effective. If the mirror got wet,

Yes. I’m looking forward to when those are more widely available (is there an accurate test now? I know there are tests out there but I’ve heard mixed thoughts about their accuracy) and the data they bring us.

But are we? If this virus is has an R0 as high as 5 or 6 (isn’t that the range for measles?), then shouldn’t a whole lot of people be infected? In the largely and relatively densely populated county where I live (Tarrant County, Texas. Where Fort Worth is. We’re in the same metroplex as Dallas.). We have about 1250

I’ve thought about a bike trainer. Last time I checked on Amazon they were crazy expensive and not shipping until late April/early May. Thanks for the reminder to check again.
I have been doing some circuit training. I “borrowed” my favorite heavy(ish...25 lbs) kettlebell the last day my gym was open so kettlebell

I have a friend who owns his own construction and carpentry business. I got him to make me a couple of steps/boxes that I use for step-ups, as a bench and to store my equipment. He’s making them as plyo/jump boxes for others (I’ve got bad knees so jumping on boxes is a bad idea for me). I have an adjustable set of

I make a list of what I need, organized by my typical route through the stores and try to minimize the number of stores I go to. I wear a mask. I don’t take anything I don’t need into the store with me. I’m familiar with the store layouts so I can usually get in and get out pretty quickly. I shop on Fridays, late

Right after my gym closed I got a friend of mine who owns a carpentry/construction business to build me a couple of wooden boxes which I’ve been using for step-ups, as a bench for using my old dumbbells and my elastic tubes and bands and which are designed to nest specifically so that I can use them to store my gear.

I was out for a walk around my neighborhood yesterday and encountered a woman also walking (in the opposite direction). She was wearing gloves and had a handkerchief (or possibly a paper towel) in her hand which she used to cover her nose and mouth while we passed. She also turned her face away from me and veered into

This weekend my gaming group is going to try to play some cooperative games. We’re guessing that due it’s complexity, Betrayal at House on the Hill (Legacy) will have to wait until we can all get together again. But anything in the Forbidden series, any of the Panic games and Pandemic should all work pretty well even
