My god, thank you for writing this.

The Vita is a pretty slick piece of hardware, but that interface still has to go. It looks like something that would come pre-installed on a cheap knockoff tablet, especially compared to the elegant cross-style interface they've been using on the PSP and PS3.
I knew it. I could tell from the pixels.
It's not a cop-out at all. Some Apple products are very good, but the hysteria surrounding them, and the semi-deification of Steve Jobs, are absolutely absurd. He's a guy who had some good ideas of his own and who more often bought (or outright stole) the good ideas of others.
I know... it's like getting new tires for a car with no engine.
You keep saying the anger isn't the problem, but it is. It's a huge problem.
I'd like them to get their act together and start getting things right the first time. Time machines haven't been invented, but demos have been around for quite some time. The fact that the 3DS didn't allow them on day one is yet another example of Nintendo keeping its head planted firmly where the sun doesn't…
The official release has always said the GBA games would be released "by the end of 2011."
Of course attacking anybody is a problem. But when a particular subset of Americans is at higher risk of assault (verbal, physical, whatever) because of who they are, it means there is a deeper problem to address.
Playable demos! It's so cute when Nintendo thinks it's forging into the future.
Never. It's one of those things I do because I'm told I should. But I've never seen the slightest lick of difference. Same with registry cleaners.
"Let's just say that you are 100% right: Jobs was simply "a shrewd and successful business man". Then why is it that Apple users almost uniformly have an emotional connection to the Apple devices they use? Why were there millions of people, who never even knew Steve Jobs, crying when he died? Why were there thousands…
As I said elsewhere, I don't want my save data on the game card. Keeping saves on separate media has too many benefits. It's easier to trade games with friends if everybody has their own data. You can back up external save data, and if one of your games goes missing, you don't lose all your progress if you choose…
Perhaps I'm alone on this, but I don't want my data stored on the game card itself. External storage allows you to back up your data if you choose to, and allows you to replace a lost or broken game without losing your progress. Makes it far easier to trade games with friends, as well.
Umm... why is this so offensive to people? Were there people here seriously considering buying a Vita, but not saving any of their games?
No sense going back and forth on this — you guys obviously have more faith in Nintendo than I do at this stage. I'm glad you're excited for the Wii U, and I hope you turn out to be right, because I'd love to see them reclaim their position at the head of the industry.
I thought it was definitive, but I could be wrong. The fact that the rumor exists and that Nintendo hasn't just said "no... that would be ridiculous" is concerning enough. There would be no reason for them not to go on record to say that this new console supports more than one controller unless they have grave…
The Wii made sense when it was released, and obviously Nintendo made tremendous bank from it. But since it doesn't have a hardcore reputation, it doesn't really make sense to call this new one the "Wii U" if they have any interest in the hardcore crowd. Branding matters. If Nintendo is serious about reclaiming the…
This. The Wii U is clearly rigged to compete toe-to-toe with the 360 and PS3, and to soak up some ports from those consoles. In two years, when the PS4 and XBox Whatever show up, Nintendo will be back to square one.
Definitely true for the Gamecube. But we're in the Wii generation now. The Wii has fallen out of favor with the hardcore crowd, and their next console is called the Wii U. Even just from a marketing perspective, they clearly have no interest in courting the hardcore gamer.
