The Balloon Boy parents got much more severe charges than Russell, but I’m also pretty sure that she’ll be equally forgotten in 14 years.

Could you tell the difference between someone building a basement and someone building a soundproof basement?  I have no idea how thick a normal basement walls would be, so probably wouldn’t notice someone building walls thicker than normal - even if I paid any attention to how thick the walls were.

I don’t see that specific comment as blaming her, just wondering how it’s possible she didn’t suspect anything after he had a fucking bunker built in his basement.

why does this author seem more upset about the wife not knowing than you know, the man murdering all those people....? good grief, y’all. unless we find out otherwise, she’s a victim too.

This feels kind of needlessly shitty and mean. How do you want a person to react to the news that their spouse is a serial killer?

I’m surprised people aren’t mentioning what I think is the most obvious reason people think it’s a hoax: it sounded like a stupid urban legend from the start. “Putting flyers on windshields to steal your car” stupid.

It’s possible it’s a hoax. It’s also possible it’s not. The fact police aren’t saying anything doesn’t tell us anything other than that they don’t want to bias an investigation.

This right here.  Best to withhold any judgement for now to avoid looking the fool later.
