I made my husband watch The Parent Trap. I have to give him credit, he actually enjoyed it!

Thanks to a recommendation here, I'm reading Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone. I wasn't prepared for how funny it is. Also, I really like the shifts among narrators of the story. Collins does an amazing job of inhabiting different characters, and conveying character and plot information in their distinctive voices.

YES! That is a great cover.

When she did the episode about the Tate murders, she noted that it might be difficult to listen to. I feel like that did a lot to humanize those people again - they weren't sterile "victims" from a crime show. They died horribly, and she never loses sight of anyone's real stories.

I finished humorist and pop culture figure Dave Holmes' memoir Party of One. It was very, very funny, and a breezy, yet poignant read. Next up is Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. I heard him interviewed on the Criminal podcast, and found his views on capital punishment, reform, and compassion too compelling to not

I'm happy Julie finally got a show, and is getting exposure to a wider audience. The only downside is fewer HWYW podcasts.

Brain cancer took my husband's aunt. It is nasty, nasty stuff.

Finally listening to this week's. Where does the butt start?

Ah, little pieces of think.

Watching episode 2 right now - delightful news on the return panelists.

Wonder who was unhappy about the FJ category when it was announced. Oh, Matt? Barely suppressed rage and chronic ants in the pants?

Bazooms!

The kindle edition is free right now!

End of Watch was a huge disappointment. I liked Mr. Mercedes - it had a mean, economic quality reminiscent of the Bachman Books. EoW was ridiculous and had very thin characters.

How common is it to recycle clues? DD3 was on the online test last year. Seems like a lot of folks would've remembered that, especially if they participated on JBoard.

I finished The Pendragon Legend by Antal Szerb, which was excellent. I’m looking forward to reading Journey By Moonlight by Szerb, which is reputed to be a European literary classic. In the meantime, I’ve been going through quite the looking backward phase, and I read old favorites The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart

During the chit-chat, was Sally's tee ball story the worst thing I've ever heard? You're on Jeopardy!, people.

I know, I know.

Is it bad that I heard the lyrics in Bono's voice? Cuz that's how I got "Helter Skelter."

I love that the writers are still carrying a torch for Community. And none of the contestants have ever clued in on that.
