So the closest wagon analog is the Regal Tour X. It has a fuel economy rating of 21/29, versus 25/33 for a similar RAV-4 configuration, plus the RAV-4 has 38 cu. ft. of cargo versus the Tour X’s 32.

NP. Great car, great spec, looks to be in great shape, all maintenance done. This is a car where the mileage is truly not much of a concern - those H22 engines are lower stress than the hopped up B16 of the same era and are amazingly even more reliable.

100% correct.... in fact a lot of Toyota models are related to crowns... including the Toyota Crown. Anyway, MB- what a fabulous article.

We've always known exactly what Camry means, it’s an English transliteration of the Japanese word for “crown” (kanmuri).

As a resident of South Carolina, I don’t mind paying a reasonable document fee to avoid having to deal with the jackholery that is the SCDMV.

The other issue is that after 8 years of complaints about what a buzzbomb the Fit is at highway speeds, they went from a 5- to a 6-speed manual - but added it as a totally unneeded intermediate gear, keeping the same OTGR as the old 5-speed!

I’m usually the first guy to decry people who say “yeah but you could get a ____ ____ for that much!!”. But if you want a nice ultra-reliable Japanese sedan of this vintage for under five grand, you buy an LS400, full stop.

Another problem with turning the key off is that it turns off the power to the airbags. So no supplemental restraints. Does anyone recall a recent GM recall for a similar concern. Just slip it into nuetral.

I bought my 2012 Cevy Cruze not long after the 2013s came out. It was the last 2012 on the lot. The dealer was itching to get rid of it. It had some weird racing stripes on it but otherwise was equipped as I wanted it.

That’s a great idea. Hallmark movies for car people. Like, Velocity Channel Original TV movies about a single father who gets reconnected with his first car. Or a plucky orphan in his ugly-duckling Volare who wins the big race and saves the local youth center.

And I don’t buy the courthouse excuse, because they are showing up as part of their job. If you had a meeting to get to downtown and you didn’t give yourself the adequate amount of time to arrive early in case all the parking spots labeled “[Your job] parking only” were taken, then you just can’t park illegally,…
