“marketing makes assumptions about people” - controversy!
From a business perspective, it’s an efficient strategy, but it’s still completely strange that all this was based on a white marketing team’s intuition or feeling about how people respond to black art or what cultural knowledge they assume people have.
This is standard practice in all film marketing (most marketing, period). Every film released cuts multiple trailers aimed at different ethnic groups, which will often focus on the Hispanic actor, the African-American actress, etc. Nothing new here. All marketing is based on assumptions about groups of people - moms…
He also tried to date rape her at that party and then yelled at her when she said no, but lol, he appreciated her brain! #justjessthings
In the Northeast, there’s lead pipes everywhere in old buildings. My rent-stabilized apartment building has trace amounts of lead in the pipes. You just have to run the water for about 30 seconds to flush it, then its safe to drink. That might seem crazy to you, but its pretty common here.
Oh my god thank you!! I love this, and hate myself for loving it. It’s fun! (Although I still don’t really know why there are dildos on a guitar...)
*eyeroll*
I love all the “oh, I’m old, I don’t get it.” There is nothing to get, you guys. I’m 27 and I laughed at the video. Why? Because a kid was using a funny voice to say nonsensical shit to another (good-looking) kid. Like.... what isn’t to get????? People’s desire to be “soooo above” memes is what I don’t get.

There’s so much more to Stonehenge (and many old archaelogical sites) than meets the eye. I remember having my mind blown when I watched this PBS documentary about it, because I always thought it was just a bunch of rocks that lined up with celestial bodies/events, and that was all there was to it.
Yeah, but some of the shows are clearly a lot more concerned with “showing off the weirdos” than others. My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding is not as kind to its subjects as, say, The Little Couple.
I believe shows like Say Yes To The Dress and many of the home buying/renovating shows on HGTV have been very good for “normalizing” LGTB couples. They just straightforwardly introduce people as “Lisa and Janet, and their son Aiden” or whatever. No explanations or apologies.
TLC has the weirdest goddamned lineup. They continue to showcase the Duggars, and weird exploitative shit like 90 Day Fiancé, but then they also have some awesome programs like SYTTD and the incomparable Little Couple. What the hell?
Random does not mean the following:
I’ve met people who literally had no clue this was a bad idea and just brush it off like it’s nothing. Like...what the actual fuck, where is your brain?
Oh my god GET OUT OF HERE
You have a point but we were talking about Shondaland shows on network TV.
I didn’t say write positive posts about Republicans. In fact, I asked, instead of writing a bashing post, how about a positive post about Democrats as to why we should vote for them.
