I feel like Peter Cushing in Rogue One shouldn’t really count. He didn’t appear in that movie, a computer model that looked like him appeared while a sound-alike actor did the words. It’s not the same as the rest of the list, where an actor died between filming and release. Carrie Fisher in The Rise of Skywalker is a

I hope Season 2 is just a copy paste of Season 1, and you cant watch S3 till you've sat through both.

“Immersive sim” seems to be a thing people say when they mean “kinda like Deus Ex” but think that seems too dismissive.

hmmm

I think at this point we’re just throwing words at the wall to see what sticks to try to come up with something to call this genre. “Immersive arcade sim roguelike” is probably not gonna be it, but it still makes me feel a bit queasy to look at that series of words in that order.

Ghost of Tsushima was mostly a joyless slog

Opinion...
Ghost of Tsushima was superior to the most of the Assassin’s Creed games. The first few were good, then they lost their way.
If anything, they should take a good hard look at Tsushima and figure out how to improve on it.

George Michael warned us.

I honestly don’t really get the adoration Nier Automata gets. I mean, I enjoyed the game, and it does a couple of really smart things, but I really wouldn’t call it one of the best games ever.

Does the author expects people to live in pandemic mode for the rest of their lives? Covid is not going away. Between multiple vaccines, advances in treatment and some degree of natural immunity, most people have started to treat Covid as endemic and resumed their regular lives, including health authorities.

Fuck those who voted to overturn R Vs. W.

That’s not the way to play a mobile game. If any content feels time-gated or locked behind very low drop rates, it’s because you’re expected to play this game for years, not in the quick bursts between now and the next major AAA release.”

so hype for No Man’s Skyrim to disappoint me in a whole new way

This 100%. In both of the above comps, without the labels I wouldn’t really be able to tell which is which. One is perhaps more stylized and the other more “realistic”, but neither is objectively better imo. They’re just different art styles at this point.

God, I genuinely keep mixing up which screenshot is the remake and which is the remaster. It feels so much like the main difference here is the change in graphical style.

I’m actually in the middle of my first playthrough right now (waited until I got a PS5) and I absolutely love the game. I really hope that screwing up the launch doesn’t completely doom the chances of the game becoming a franchise, I definitely would play more beyond the planned DLC.

Outer Wilds
the whole point of the game is about the discovery of every clue that will lead you to understand what’s happening and it’s fantastic all the way through. Unfortunately that feeling can only be experienced once :(

You have no idea how happy it makes me that this wasn’t a slideshow

the fuck, kotaku is able to display articles like this that aren’t slideshows?! who knew!  I wonder if the authors could try it more often....
