That would first require us to actually enforce the "keep right" law so people don't hang out going 5 under in the passing lane. Good luck with that.

I like the fact that it's legal to pass on the right so long as it's safe to do so. It means I can go around the blue-hair in camry driving slow in the fast lane with her lights turned off...

We wouldn't have the issue of passing on the right if people in the states stop PARKING ON THE LEFT LANE!

I wish drivers in the US would drive in the right lanes and leave the left lanes for passing. On a four lane freeway the left lane is packed up and the right lanes are usually empty. So that's where I go.

We would also need a "don't be a dick because they person behind you wants to go faster than you" sign. People only ride the booty because they're forced to. There's no shame in letting someone by.

The only way that would work is if you implement am impeding traffic violation and enforce it. Then the cops would have to enforce two laws. And that, we all know, just isn't going to happen.

Some places to have "Keep Right Except to Pass" type of signs (like in Connecticut). But I agree that it isn't widespread enough nor is it typically enforced.

CT has this law. I was pulled over for passing someone going 35 in the left lane of a 40 mph zone on a 2 lane road. Was quite annoying. Wasnt even aggressive...just a casual gradual overtake in the right lane since laws of physics I was going 40-45 and he was going 35ish. Guess the cop was bored.

only if people would get out of the fast lane and stay to the right except to pass. So many people hanging out in the fast lane doing 5 over. Then when you flash your lights, they get mad, slow down and/or flip you off.
