Their top priority with the name is most likely to be clear this is a sequel, and not another expansion. Any subtitle at this point might remove some of that clarity, even if the subtitle alludes to its sequel status.

I prefer to see it as Bungie not missing a chance to avoid calling it Des2ny.

It falls on both ends of the spectrum. You can climb trees or you can collect the 179 Star Fragments to max out every armor set in the game. Neither one is required but both can provide fun depending on the person. Above all though it’s taught me that people should play how they want.
