Mine opens if I get within a 5 foot radius. I LOOKED at it once, and the damn thing opened. There are angst teen-aged girls less sensitive than this "button."

I personally like seeing developers/manufacturers duking it out more, because their rivalries are bigger than just the races and most often date further back. Innovation, teamwork, and experience seem that much more rewarding, leading to scenarios where the best driver may have the worst car and vice versa. Becaue

That sucks. I feel for the guy - amputee and his wife leaves? Damn. But putting other people in danger, no matter your crux, is not ok. He obviously lacks any sort of accountability system with friends or family, so I'm guessing he's at the bottom of the barrel. And now he's going to get someone killed. Someone

On the second pass it really looked like he was going to hit the wall. It scared me, even though the title of the article does not say "Man Ruins Priceless Corvette While Hooning."

I'm glad people take the time to write these experiences up, I have friends that get screwed on car deals all the time. "I just bought a jeep, all I really cared about was getting the payment as low as possible..." Really? Thats all you care about? Not that you're paying too much long-term? Damage already done, I

Ha! Good catch. Yes, they all have *sad-face* T-shirts, hemp khaki's, and sod-shoes ;)

Re-read it. Yeah, I guess judgmental is heavy. I guess his convictions come off as a little extreme, but I read the end (had skipped that prior) and he turns it around.

I'm still trying to understand your response - I even did research :P

AMAZEBALLS.

He makes a direct correlation between choosing a manual and being "shortsighted." That sounds like more than just and observation about automatics; it sounds judgemental. Because it IS judgemental.

Long as I got manual by my side,

"All that revving?" Did he go into anymore detail than that?

Well said Jason - I tire of people who have these narrow veiws. "I'm driving a BLANK and so I'm fixing the problem, but everyone else is making it worse." Or "Don't you dare buy BLANK or you hate the planet." Uniformed, they get on their soapbox and condemn everyone else (even though their BLANK may have a very

I'd have to put that back on the consumers again. If someone is willing to buy a car that ISN'T GOOD simply because someone else put their stamp of approval on it or they want to "fit in", then they, the consumer, are at fault. Nobody is making these people spend >$20K; especially if it's something they don't want.

Hate it all you want, but people vote for this stuff by BUYING THEM. So are car-makers to blame, or consumers? Yeah, nobody here is salivating (likely); but car enthusiasts are a minority in the market. So to the other 8 of 10 people buying a car, this just might appeal. It's just the way things are.

That was QUITE stereotypical. He must have felt pressured to be cool with all the TREES WATCHING.

Watching how some people function on a daily basis, I'm surprised there aren't more stories like this. One of my own experiences comes to mind, I was hunting on a cousin's private land with some family, and we stopped to fire a few rounds off into a big stump nearby for kicks. A gentleman we didn't know, and I'm

RIP Carroll. Thanks for making cars cooler.

You know it! But seriously, sometimes they do. I know, I'm married. It can be scary.
