Nope, it’s more or less a basic thermostat coil in there that rotates as is gets colder, if it’s started to turn blue (instead of red) it means that things are probably icy and you probably should be driving more cautiously, with chains, or some form of winter tires on.

Not really. They had time, ambitions and money. You put all that together, even during that time period, and you could pull off amazing things. I mean FFS up until an earthquake leveled it 2200 or so years ago the Colossus of Rhodes was a thing.
