I miss blue interiors!
The prius can get really close to this actually. I can turn the touchscreen actually OFF i can turn the hybrid system indicator off and the only light comes from the very dim ac controls and the speedo.
Ever increasing crash safety requirements play a big part in the high belt lines and extra thick pillars. Endless aerodynamic efficiency efforts make things even worse.
Yes, and *CLICKY* buttons. Buttons that actually give you feedback.
Colors. Colors damn it. Pretty much every premium trim level narrows it down to shades of black, white, grey, silver, and maybe a dark blue or red. It’s annoying. The only time you see “fun” colors is on stripped entry level economy cars or performance cars.
You almost nailed what I want, ventilated seats, large lumbar support range AND more telescoping to the steering wheel. I have long legs and slightly short arms so I’m always compromising on leg support or stretching slightly more than I want to move the wheel. I haven’t found a car that includes a manual and all of…
For Land Rover and Stellantis, yes. Unfortunately, they’ve never offered it as an option on the showroom floor, instead going with a very expensive subscription system which is used all too frequently.
I wish every automaker had MB Tex interior option.
Fog lights. Even if you live in a desert-like area, the fog lights on my Sonic illuminate close to the ground and to the sides much better than the headlights, to help me see suicidal small animals before they dart out just in front of my car. Our Odyssey LX doesn’t have them; you had to go to a higher trim…
Automatic headlamps, preferably like GM’s that default to automatic every time the car is turned on. Too many people drive around with no lights on and no clue.
Light-toned headliners. Not only have we lost all interior color choices other than black since the ‘90s, but now it’s been decreed that everything even slightly sporty-ish must have a black headliner to complete the coal-hole effect (I’m looking at YOU, Civic and Corolla hatchbacks).
Knobs instead of buttons.
Fabric seats on higher trim level cars. It’s warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, doesn’t require maintenance, and the bolsters don’t look like shit from cracking after three years. There is nothing better than the plaid in a GTI but they have ditched that on all but the base model.
I hate the tilting mirrors. Try backing a trailer when those bloody things tilt down.
every back up camera, now that they are mandatory, should have the guide lines that move as you turn your steering wheel. we have one car with fixed lines and it’s so worthless compared to the other car that has ones that move.
Less “features”. I would like to see physical buttons again. Having to navigate a menu to increase the A/C fan speed, or turn on heated seats, is ridiculous. The “luxury” of a screen is usually that it provides access to deeper options and control, while at the same time making really simple things unnecessarily hard.…
I wish my car had more slideshows.
