Completely agree; my dad has a 2009 Ram and the interior is way better than an 08. FCA made them even better

Its 4.71:1 in 1st, compared to 3.59:1 for the current auto or 4.46:1 for the current manual. 3.88 diffs with the 8 speed would be equivalent to 4.10s with the current manual, and a 3.12 diff with the 8 speed would have the same final drive as the current auto hooked to a 4.10 rear. And that is for the current 8, not

Not in the US where they also sell Ram; and the J8 is a 3/4 ton.

I have never done an emissions inspection on either of my vehicles

Considering this will probably be marketed as a midsize and those are on the low end of half ton capacity numbers its about what I expected

Ram 1500s have had that powertrain since 2014 so you could look there

You think FCA will have a midsize with higher payload than their half tons? It won’t articulate well

Beam axles are heavy

Not with how low the 8HP70 is geared. Final drive is what matters, diff ratio is just half the picture

Yep, European tow ratings are greatly overrated/or US ones are underrated. You would hardly ever see a trailer hitch on a FWD sedan in the US, its common in Europe.

Yep, look at the Raptor and Power Wagon. The Raptor has a sub 1000 lb payload in some configs and is a half ton. The PW is a 3/4 ton with a ~1500 lb payload. There’s a tradeoff between capacity and articulation.

The V6 Tacoma gets the same MPGs as a half ton with a V8, so a JT diesel will surely beat your Taco on fuel economy, and the V6 very well may too.
I won’t go into how Toyota’s quality is greatly exaggerated

This is really reaching. For the 2011s they went off the shape of the 69-70 tails and joined them in the middle, this is just an evolution of that. The 14 and newer Durangos have a somewhat similar shape

It really wasn’t anemic compared to the competition; look at what the Corolla was making. Ours was trouble free at 85k when dad T boned an Isuzu Trooper that was trying to cut across the highway, he was going at least 70mph. Both he and my brother walked away with no more than cuts and bruises.

These were great little cars, its a shame they couldn’t follow it up with successful subsequent generations (SRT excluded).

Yep, just hard gray plastic everywhere, with obvious mold flashing and not enough plasticizer or UV resistant in it. 90s Chryslers had better interiors than Daimler Chryslers

All Chrysler interiors got worse under Daimler, from Rams to Vipers to Neons. Say what you will about FCA but FCA Chrysler interiors are way better than DC ones

Never mind that Ford’s D3 platform is no newer

No Hemi? Crack pipe

Well yeah, any sort of widespread head gasket failure is going to be a big deal-it can totally trash an engine. Its not just replacing the gaskets and heads, the short block should be decked too. Its like the Powerstroke 6 leaker all over again
