There are 3 SRT Challengers, this is the Demon. There are also the SRT Hellcat and the SRT Apache. The Demon and Hellcat are blown 6.2s, the Apache is the naturally aspirated 6.4. SRT is just Dodge’s performance division, like SVT for Ford. There are also the SRT Viper and a couple SRT Chargers.

You know what would keep the cost of cars down? If they didn’t mandate unnecessary stuff like backup cams and automatic braking. I am all for developing new technology and offering it as options, but when you can’t get a new pickup for under $30k because the most stripped down model has a backup cam and adaptive

Have you missed every article about this car up to this point?

Didn’t FJs also use Taco diffs? Not really the strongest one out there

Towing uphill is a constant gradual load, this is a sudden shock through only part of the wheel rotation, this is definitely harder on it, though if you just do it once in a while its probably OK.

This was Daimler era, not recession era. Its launch predates the recession by about a year, putting its development square in the Daimler ownership window.

I love infographics; the inclusion of one makes this article great, and much better than it would have been otherwise

Its not bad in a V6 car; part of the problem is people thinking for some reason that a 4 cylinder will have enough torque for 9 gears. The other problem is that they actually built them that way

Chrysler does not make Alfa Romeos, they make Chryslers. Alfa Romeo makes Alfa Romeos. Fiat Chrysler, based in the UK, Owns both.

If you are stupid enough to believe a bank can afford to stay in business by lending you money cheaper than the government lends that bank money then you deserve to be homeless. If you are stupid enough to do it again you deserve to be homeless and carless.

And banks shouldn’t expect the money back from people they

They aren’t even all that desirable; similar mileage to a half ton with less room and capability. Why would you buy a used one for the price of a new half ton?

Same with diesel pickups. 10 years old and 100,000+ miles they are only $10,000 less than a new one

So the thing is that its when driven similarly. You can believe what you want to believe, the increases in economy are in EPA figures, not real world. Again, I refer you here:

Its not new, there have been police F150s for years, this is just the first one built for the task. Ram has had a police spec’d 1500 since the 2012 model year.

Well swapping a Powerstroke into anything would be a downgrade

Great article, this is why I read Jalopnik. Just a candid review of your experience.

Would have been easier to just grab 4 BBs, put them under the valve stem caps, and screw them down.

Consumer Reports doesn’t even sample a tenth of a percent of many vehicles; their data is not statistically significant and the conclusions they draw are disingenuous at best.

Note how its not “Alfa Romeo” recalling things, its FCA.
On Jalopnik its never the manufacturer who’s problem it was, its the parent company if its made by a manufacturer that is part of FCA.

The key takeaway is that the downsized turbo engines only get better fuel economy in lab tests and not in the real world. This can be as complicated as you want to make it, but go read any Ford board about how guys with ecoboosts are not getting any better economy than guys with Coyotes

It is possible to make an even firing 90 degree V10, Ford’s Triton V10 is one; it uses split crank pins, just like many 90* V6s do. Dodge V10s have all been odd firing-the 8 liter Magnum, and the 8.0, 8.3, and 8.4L Vipers.
