a false flag attack that murders hundreds of millions all over the globe? come on. what would be the gain? just to get yet another leg up on the Soviet Union, who they were already dominating anyway?

no. one of the points in the book was that most of the characters have no actual powers. their fights were short and brutish and rooted in real world physics. in the opening scene of the movie, The Comedian, who's a well built guy, but a normal human of age 60 or so, punches a hole in concrete and smashes a marble

haha shut up

i don't really mind changes per se (for example i prefer Snyder's ending to the vagina squid from space) but i do mind changes that make it clear the director absolutely did not understand the source material, and unfortunately Watchmen is full of those kinds of changes.

it makes it more dumb. it was a dumb ending. one of the few things Snyder got right was changing that.

it actually makes MORE sense than the comic book, is more believable, and more thematically relevant. i have to admit, i never got the vagina monster from space thing. i didn't feel like it worked at all.

Snyder's film frustratingly misses the point and often seems to be making the OPPOSITE point of the comic in places. Particularly in regards to violence, yes.

this title is fine.

on an unrelated note, has the 8th season of Firefly suddenly disappeared from anyone else's Netflix queue?

Just awful. How are we supposed to know whether it is referring to the FINAL Jedi, or the PREVIOUS Jedi?

oh man this explains so much!! there have been several things i saw on TV that I vaguely remembered from childhood, and then when I looked them up on the internet as an adult, they were listed as "unsold pilot" or whatever and i had come to the conclusion that at some point during my adolescence i'd been transported

Yeah I was there too. We arrived at about 8:30am but still couldn't get anywhere near close enough to see or hear any of the speakers, even through the myriad speaker towers they had erected far from the stage. There were just way way too many people to hold any kind of individual march. No individual picture does

I'm here in D.C. It's impossible to express the sheer scale. Whatever number they put on it is too low, people are everywhere, all over town, not just along the path and mall.

Not you. The article.

Seriously I'm irrationally furious at this motherfucking dipshit and his objectively wrong taste in fries.

no that's littlehand

also they are all different shades of red. barfo.

movies, according to Leonard Maltin, which are no better than Laserblast (which he gave 2.5 stars) :

haha

Follow That Bird is pretty good. it is also fairly intense at times. the scene where Big Bird is caged and forced to sing in a carnival is heartbreaking, and the scenes where the (well meaning but misguided) antagonist is threatening to permanently take him away from his de facto family are pretty upsetting to
