Agreed. I wish they'd put out a trailer already. I've had to make the same comparisons and they really don't reflect well on the game as a whole. I'd like to be able to point to something better.

First, they didn't release this screenshot as something that's representative to the game. It's just an image to share with fans of the game to see what sort of things you can build. Andras Neltz took the image an applied the label "pretty" to it. If you disagree, that's something you'd have to talk to him about.

That's certainly impressive art, but I'm not sure how well that'd translate to block-based game. And, somewhat to their credit they are trying to make as much content as possible. If all of the pixel art were hyper detailed it would take quite awhile to make all the content they wanted to put into the game.

I just looked that up. Cool game, but I'm not sure why you're comparing it to Starbound. It's not even the same genre.

Agreed. If you're making an always online game and haven't thought long and hard about your answer to the question "Why does it need to be this way?" you're screwed. And no, DRM is not a good enough answer.

People wanting online co-op != people wanting always online. They are not the same thing. At all.

Counter-point... A very large number of congressional sessions are attended by less than half of our congressman. Perhaps we'd have greater turnout with telepresence?

Yep. It's not like this is the first time a movie has destroyed a city before either. Most others give a token nod towards "evacuating the city" even if that evacuation seems to happen in mere minutes.

The first part reminded me of the golden rule of IT. Always have a back up. How does complete consciousness copying technology exist and then only get used by one person when everyone is aware that they're planet is dying in a few weeks?

Seconded on the electrical tape. I use a bit of black tape on a bunch of devices with too bright LEDs.

So... like achievements in general then?

Agreed. I bought Civ IV complete edition, but it shows up in my library as 8 (!!) separate games. 1 game + 3 expansions and then doubled because of a bug that lists PC/Mac versions separately.

According to the Steam page it has full controller support.

On sale right now for $11.99. Not sure if it'll be cheaper later though.

Looks like the perfect mobile game. Relatively short play sessions, good controls, simple concept, but hard to master. I second your suggestion!

Pixel art + randomized dungeons (i.e. art assets are reused multiple times) = small size.

I feel like I've seen another video in this same style... Have you made others? Or is there another person who's done something similar? I'd like to see more like this, it's awesome!

The bundle deals are what really makes them money.

I (try) not to buy things I don't need/want from Steam sales, but I managed to pick up a four pack of Terraria for ~$7 at one and have poured over 100 hours into that game. Split the pack with a couple of friends. Best $1.75 we ever spent.

Like others have said, options are dangerous. They're confusing for the consumer, the best buy employee and little kid's parents. Not to mention the fact that the software is loaded at the factory. That means they need to balance how many DRM consoles vs Non-DRM consoles they make. And inevitably someone would want to
