I think it’s more to do with licensing? SEGA owns the IP and PlatinumGames develop it but ultimately Nintendo co-owns the actual game because they funded it? Not really sure how it works but Kamiya has been adamant that 2 and 3 are Nintendo-only, unless Nintendo allows it.

I think Kamiya would literally kill you for not spelling it as PlatinumGames, at least from what I see on his twitter... And no, I have no idea why there’s no space in between, either...
