Nobody is worried about including more games that are more inclusive to folks. The concern is that the criticisms are asking existing games to change and be something else. The second someone wants to take away my DoA or Killer is Dead is when we have a problem. I don't care how juvenile and immature those games are

Are you going to prove she's not a feminist? While she's not the favorite of every feminist, she's a staunch advocate for equality for all (kinda a good thing). And considering she's contributed to various liberal outlets in addition to being part of the AEI (Huffpost, The Atlantic, Slate etc.), I don't see why w

I'm aware of that. But this was back in March, almost half a year ago. It's placing right now seems odd given what's going on with criticism of gaming media, Anita, and critics of Anita, all of which are involved in one way or another with the whole gamergate thing.

Well, Milo has actually been doing a pretty good job of trying to report on this whole thing. Brietbart isn't great, I totally agree. And Milo has totally written some shit articles.

Sommers also contributes to many liberal/liberal leaning sites like Huffington Post, The Atlantic, Slate, Time Magazine etc. Not to mention she's a registered Democrat.

Curious as to what spurred this article at a time when there's heavy criticism against Anita and a pushback from other feminists like Christina Sommers.

No it's not. That may have been the trigger (though you put it very poorly and disrespectfully), but it was never specifically about that at its core.

For conservatives, "liberal" is an insult. For liberals, "conservative" is an insult. It cuts both ways.

No, that's bro-gamer culture. That's distinctly different from the majority of the folks who show up to the big gaming conventions, pro-tournaments etc. Those are more your core-gaming culture folks who actually give a shit about something other than just CoD/Assassin's Creed/Madden.

Gamer culture isn't bro culture. Traditionally, gamer culture is pretty firmly anti-bro, as it was the gamers that were ostracized and made fun of by the jocks/cool kids who ended up turning into said bros.

Seems pretty similar to the covers of magazines I see like Men's Health. Lots of talk about physical appearance, how to dress, and sex.

It's an attempt to frame the entire article and Christina Sommers in a certain light. It's trying to get everyone to form an opinion of what she says before reading what she says.

That's the argument, but I'd be curious to see some kind of data to back it up.

People act like shitlords online in everything. Seriously, online interaction through any source is awful.

Did you see the nearly dozen articles on sites like Kotaku, Polygon, Gamasutra, and Ars Technica that came out within a day of each other proclaiming the death of the "gamer" identify or the evil of "gamers"?
