Tweaked mechanics + new characters + new stages = new game. This is how fighting games have worked for decades. Even more so if it has a new ‘story’ mode.

Now whether you’d call that ‘Smash 5' is another thing, but it’s also completely meaningless. Smash doesn’t really have any official numbered entries, and for many

3 months? The game only has a tentative ‘2018' release, it’s not out in 3 months. It’s almost certainly going to be a holiday release, provided it doesn’t get delayed.

If you’re talking about the E3 demo, Nintendo often has a playable demo available for Smash. They had a Melee demo available at the 2001 E3 and that

I really think this could work in Nintendo’s favor. Have a condensed roster at launch, then make most of the new Nintendo-proper characters added in free updates, with some of the bigger sets (and likely the 3rd party characters) added in purchasable packs.

Yeah, fighting games have a history of releasing multiple games on the same engine.

Or, hell, look at Bethesda, a bunch of their games are all built using the same engine (albeit often updated), but they’re hardly all the ‘same game’.

It’s also a new logo, with the whole announcement trailer having a very different style from 4.

And it’s different from all the other ports Nintendo has done, even the ‘deluxe’ ones. They’ve been very up front about all of those being ports, and generally drop a great deal more information about them than they did here.

That’s actually a really hard and taxing way to do things. A long ‘announcement-to-launch’ window with the need to keep up the hype is going to be a lot of work, cost a lot of money, and run the risk of over-hyping/burning-out your audience.

A shorter window, with more regular info-heavy updates planned well in advance

This is actually exactly where I’m at. I’d hate to lose a favorite, but I really feel like Smash 4 had too many characters. We could certainly stand to lose most of the ‘clones’ if there’s going to be such an expansive roster. And as much as it would pain me (as a big Sonic and Mega Man fan) I actually think dropping

I actually think they are going to trim down the roster, at least for launch. Mainly because, assuming this is a new entry, the tease for the roster appears to just be one row of fighters. That said, I’m still hopeful it won’t be tiny, I’d imagine at least around 20 fighters. Which is small compared to recent Smash

Smash Bros for the N64 came out in 1999. Melee came out in 2001. This wouldn’t even be the shortest turnaround for a Smash game.

Yeah, no, that’s literally their suggestion. Totally not at all because it would mean selling more guns to arm all those people.

Yeah, from what I’ve read, a lot of Toriyama’s decision making process comes down to:

-Simplifying/laziness
-Forgetfulness
-Spite

Truly, the man is an inspiration to us all. :P

Legendary SS (Broly and now Kale) transformation has always had green (yellow-green, I guess) instead of the traditional golden-yellow. It’s to reflect the idea that it’s a different kind of transformation than normal SS.

That said, I think having red, blue, and pink for Godly is a little much. I would have preferred

DNA, eh? Then I suppose you are opposed to killing viruses, bacteria, parasites, etc? I certainly hope you’ve never taken any medicine, used antibacterial soap, killed a tick, or boiled anything ever. Otherwise, by your own argument, you’re a vicious murderer who should be put to death.

OMG this whole idea that women, especially attractive women, must be ‘invaders’ and can’t just, you know, enjoy whatever hobby they goddamn want, is infuriating.

I’m a guy, but I’ve know several female gamers over the years. Some damn good ones, too. Unfortunately a fair number have been ridiculed because of their sex

This is a bad take. “Ignore anything you disagree with” is a horrible thing to apply broadly, sure, but in specific instance it certainly applies. Specifically when the thing you’re ignoring isn’t doing anyone harm.

Ignoring a serial killer instead of wanting them stopped, because you disagree with murder, is a

I’m honestly not sure which surprised me more, Taco Bell offering some of the best fast food breakfast items, or them coming out with some of the best fast food fries.

I would not have expected either from a taco place, let alone Taco Bell.

This had been my experience: in terms of quality, locations vary significantly. Back where I used to live, Wendy’s had THE BEST fast food, and Taco Bell was absolute shit.

Where I am now in NYC, though, the local Taco Bells are fantastic, as is the closest McDonald’s, while the local Wendy’s is mediocre at best.

On that

I’m not sure I’ve got a ‘never uninstall,’ but I certainly have several constant re-installs:

RPG/Sandbox: Skyrim, or really any recent TES or Fallout.
Shooter: Borderlands 2, Payday 2, and/or Overwatch.
RTS: Starcraft.
Fighter: Anything Arc System Works (though I’m a bit more partial to BB than GG).
Action/Adventure: The

I’m with you on most of those. I love the ‘rebooted’ Tomb Raider games, Breath of the Wild is both one of the best Zelda games and one of the best open-world games, and classic Halo games were the best (1 & 2 being my favorites).

Borderlands 2 and Payday 2 are my favorite co-op shooters. Especially when I can get three or four people playing together.

And yeah, Borderlands 2 definitely still holds the crown for RPG-loot-drop-shooter. I tried Destiny, but it just did not old my interest at all.
