Just to clarify, the F22 is top of its class and in no way is being replaced by the F35. The F35 is meant to complement the F22 in the armed forces Hi-low mix, with a huge number of less expensive aircraft working with a smaller number of much higher end aircraft. F22/F35 is the new F15/F16

The F-35 can carry a similar load out stealthily as the F-16 as during a normal strike mission. Because the F-35 doesn’t need to sacrifice stations for fuel and sensors like the F-16 does. And it can do it about 50% farther.
