I know Im old. An old DOS guru dragged unwillingly into Windows. But my preference on my linux server, and DEFINETLY on a CD or USB drive, would be a non-GUI installation. It seems that if Im going for tiny I would want to avoid the heavy overhead of an X-windows system.

Times are getting close to my perfect telecommute setup. I can now WiFi and jog. I can WiFi and fish. I can do my chores like shopping and house chores and mowing the yard with an arrangement to let me know immeadiately if the server needs me so I can respond fast enough to appear to have never left my seat.

My personal love is an oldie called Chameleon Clock.

Ive seen this carried to extremes. Here are some great pictures.

I will be looking into this.

I find this very handy for having my computers automatically send me a text on my cell phone. Such as, having my linux server text my cell when it sees a possible break-in attempt. I love the conversations "I gotta go." "Oh was that your wife?" "No, my server"

I cringed (but secretly laughed at) the 127.0.0.1 kill-a-newb "helpful" posts.

Dont put all your eggs in one basket. No matter how great a spot you come up with, it can be compromised.

Keep in mind that there is a difference between "best language" and "best language to start with". I fully agree that Basic is the best place to start. Too many of the other recommended languages tend to blow off beginners. The first one should be something they can easily see a proud result from. That is after all

Sorry, additional thought.

No I wont miss it.

I like to collect fair-game jokes. If I hear a black joke then I tell a white joke, if I hear a polish joke then I tell an american joke. Yeah I now its not the best way to handle it but its fun to see the looks.

This seems like a specialized site. I cant believe that one of the largest tshirt databases (CafePress.com) isnt included. I did a couple of searches which do give results in CafePress but this site found nothing. What good is that? Also apparently a number of other large sites (PrintFection, Zazzle) appear to be

I feel that everything has its pros and cons. I prefer Mac for portables, Windows XP for desktops, and Linux for internet servers.

One of the useful things you can do with this is to add a hidden toggle switch or a foot button to your starter. That way you not only need the key to start your car but you also have to know about the additional step.

OK I didnt think "start your party" when I saw this. But I like the imagery. I think I would have liked to add it to the computer room for the CEO to hit if he feels there is an emergency. A big panic-button.

Im old but this reminds me of "bit" in the movie Tron. The little blinker thing that told him stuff? I really liked that. Kindof a techy version of tinkerbell.

Lyrics would be a good subject for this site to tackle yet. It would be great to tell us of something that lets you specify your favorite lyrics sites and then searches for each MP3 and inserts the lyrics.

I use FireFox. I have a toolbar showing with folders for various hot topics. I drag URLs into the folders. When that topic becomes not so hot then I use the Organize Bookmarks to move it down into the normal bookmarks leaving more room for more folders of hot topics.
