But what if someone wants non-alcoholic beer?
Just play “Maybe I’m Amazed” backwards.
I’ve got no scruples and a WaPo subscription, so here ya go:
Is there a reason to throw the Stranger Things’ actors in this comparison at all? Wouldn’t it make more sense to compare the other actors on OITNB instead?
Are you serious? You wrote a whole article on this? Orange is the New Black was great ... but it was nowhere near as popular as Stranger Things is. Not even in the same stratosphere. This is like saying the women of the WNBA are not being paid like NBA players... just stop it. I mean , she wasn’t even the main star on…
It isn’t, but that’s also comparing a 3rd season salary to a first season one so it’s not exactly apples and apples. We also don’t have the audience numbers or other information (if say 50% of new subscribers cited Stranger Things specifically as their reason for signing up). I’m not saying she wasn’t being paid less…
I mean, Stranger Things has higher viewership numbers, a wider audience with a PG-13 slant rather than R, an ungodly high amount of merchandising sales, and the ability to move tie-in product sales (motherfuckers brought back and sold out New Coke), so yes. They get paid more.
I get that they are young but they were the stars of the most popular show in Netflix history. You’d expect them to get paid more. Though 1.6 mill is some pretty crazy money.
More popular and less main actors to spread the wages across. Pretty obvious.
Okay, but you’re talking about a main-cast member in a series with, like, 30 of those, to a central-main-character in a show with, like, 10 recurring actors.
This isn’t as out of left field as Mo’nique’s pay disparity allegations, but still seems a bit apples to oranges (pun intended).
Her mom employed a lawyer to help do the deal. The narrative that she was some innocent noob is a flat out lie. Stop defending it.
Her mom negotiated the deal, and she was happy when she signed it.
I believe him....
Hmmm, I want to try this, but by skewering the egg and roasting it over a campfire. I’ll report the results next time I go camping.
