The SAE definition just says “vehicle” which means that even a small pickup truck is a coupe.
If the logging is necessary, this really should have been considered a normal wear item which would be easily replaced at specific maintenance intervals.

This is based on a car so it’s not just technically a wagon, it is a wagon. Words still mean something, otherwise you have people referring to a four door car as a coupe. It is objectively different, but whether it is subjectively different depends on your needs.
