BAM

I’ll never forget it because it was one of my first model cars. My family was on a ferry to France, and while wandering the gift shop, I spied a 944 Convertible in 1:24 scale, and for whatever reason was really taken with it. This was ‘94 or ‘95 and I would’ve been 12 or something like that. I buy it, but after

Did anyone else read this and assume it was London, England? I’m sure some 4th gens have been imported to the UK, but I was still thrown by the idea of such a rare in there getting smashed up in an accident.

Huh, never heard that before about far righters, but that’s interesting! And yeah, a lot of forgein cars are made in the US, but Trump has crowed on and on about buying American - not just goods manufactured here, but American companies.

You can’t just pick and choose which of your candidate’s policies you support, especially not when it’s someone like Trump, who believes wholeheartedly in the shit he spouts.

Trump has made a lot of noise, especially this week, about supporting American companies, and American manufacturing. And do you not recall the amount of shit he raised during the election about tearing NAFTA apart, which would badly affect US brands manufacturing in Mexico and Canada.

It’s incongruous given his American manufacturing stance. Like, oh I dunno, voting for Trump and then being upset that you might lose your health insurance.

The number of Japanese and Korean cars I’ve seen plastered with Trump paraphernalia is crazy. Way to support the cause!

Yeah, me either.

Huh. I wonder why. Seasonal workers?

On Netflix? Probably not. Their deal with Disney is to get exclusive streaming rights on new home releases, so that excludes the back catalog.

When I lived in Edinburgh (Scotland) I saw a VW Syncro camper wearing Arizona plates parked near Princes St. So cool!

Or Alaskan, which I saw yesterday! But Hawaiian definitely trumps that. Navy guy coming home I suppose?

Where did I say anyone was going to cross-shop the two? Comparing two functionally identically vehicles is not the same thing. When I said ‘For the rest of us’ I was using the Outback Sport as an example that demonstrates the Golf Syncro only has exclusivity to justify a price most of us aren’t willing to pay.

This is a classic example of a seller who is under the mistaken belief that money spent on a car = value added to a car.

Thanks!

Production numbers and availability doesn’t prevent one similar car from being compared to the other. That’s like saying Volvo’s Polestar line can’t be compared to the BMW M cars because they won’t be produced in the same numbers, or that the RS6 Avant can’t be compared to the E65 AMG Wagon because the Audi isn’t

The Syncro and Outback Sport are identical in function and were made at most 10 years apart. To compare that to trucks with 60 years between them and made in completely different eras is ridiculous.

How is it foolish exactly? They are identical vehicles - both of them are AWD hatches capable of light offroading. Just because one of them is rare doesn’t make it worth $12k, especially to the ‘general interest buyer’.
