The modern Scottish dialect is derived from Scots, which is a Germanic language like English, so they are actually related.

Well, since Gaelic was/is predominately spoken in the Highlands, and I, like most Scots, hail from the Central Belt, where Old Scots was far more predominant, that doesn’t really have a whole lot of relevance to how I or most of my countrymen speak.
Yep. And as I said, I don’t speak it.
Nah. You upstarts have been speaking English for a hot second. My way may not be the Queen’s English but it’s better than y’all.
Hey now, you’re talking to a Scot here. Asking me to stop with the rrrs is like telling me not to breathe.
Nah, Oxford (and Cambridge) is it’s own snobby entity. Guarantee you, anyone who tries to explain to a football loving Brit that soccer is the correct term because Oxford says so, is going to lose some teeth.
I’m British, so do I get a pass?
And considering everyone over at the State Department, which met with largely the same fate, are currently sitting with nothing to do, it doesn’t leave me with a whole lot of confidence in the Justice Department.
There’s a whole Cracked article on political scandal plot lines from recent shows and movies (like House of Cards) that no longer work now that we have someone like Herr Cheeto in the White House.
OK, A, Italian Job TOTALLY has a romantic subplot! You don’t remember Michael Caine’s American doll he sends off before the big heist because its too dangerous?
While I agree with the sentiment, wishful thinking isn’t going to change a lack of demand. Not to beat the drum, but the Toyota MR2 Spider (Spyder?) is a perfect example. It was exactly what you want, a mid-engined, sub-30k sports car. It was the darling of enthusiasts and auto-journalists alike. And it just didn’t…
Ah, yeah, fair enough!
GB2 falls into the second of two categories for most comedy sequels, which is being basically the same movie, but not having the originality of its predecessor to actually work.
So is this something that they’ll be offering for sale, or are we in the realms of concept car here?
That isn’t iPhone territory. That’s average cost of new car money!
Come on now, clearly he just thinks the poors are so careless with money that they buy new iPhones every month. If they didn’t buy new iPhones every month, they’d be able to afford healthcare.
Did you read his comment? He’s talking about the US market, not globally. Your own link states that Buick sales were down in both the USA and Canada in 2015.
OK, but you have to remember that the margins of profitability in the sub-30k range in general are very slim, whereas the price range that BMW sells its SUVs in are much higher, not to mention the fact that they are simply more desired than a niche sports car can be. Plus, you’re talking about building a brand new…
Probably. The only Buicks I see with any regularity are those little Encores. Slap the Caddy badge on those and they’ll probably sell just as well.
It’s difficult enough to get manufacturers to make any kind of affordable coupe, let alone anything mid-engined. It would be an extremely niche product at best, and the amount of sales you’d need to meet that price point means its hardly likely any car company would be willing to try.
