Well... there’s what’s called a grey market import in the UK, which is basically importing JDM cars with none of the restrictions, age especially, like there are in the USA. There are dealers in the UK who deal exclusively in grey imports from Japan If you wanted that sweet sweet JDM, the UK is definitely a good place

Yeah, midsize trucks are actually pretty common in the UK, and they almost all have diesel engines and stick shifts to boot.

Randy, just spend some time in Pistonheads’ classifieds. You’ll find something to your liking, and the steering wheel will be on the correct side as well!

Hate to break it to you Tom, but you can already buy a Colorado in the UK, just with a different badge on the nose:

You can buy those, with a diesel in the UK.

You would definitely get arrested for driving that.

Ha, yes! That was gonna be my suggestion too:

Exactly! Jalopnik is almost constantly complaining about the stringent rules of the 25-year import ban, so why go through all the trouble of importing a car for a few years that you could drive when you move back home?

I’m excited for this season in a way I never was for either last season or the Grand Tour. The three of them have pretty excellent chemistry and while its still early days, I’m more confident they can (as you say) evolve the show into something new.

but the issue at hand is “best solved at the state and local level.”

Awww, you guys are no fun! The X90 is supposed to be pretty good offroad - its a Vitara in drag after all. Its a ridiculous vehicle, but I’d love a beater X90 for offroad shenanigans!

There’s been some K20 swaps, which makes quite a potent recipe. How complex it is though I dunno

Yeah, that’s been made abundantly clear by several posters in this thread, and I already acknowledged the OP’s follow-up about her word choice.

Oh yeah, but if you’re the passenger and you need to crank the volume. you’re stabbing a button forever. It was especially annoying as the Trax we had actually had a killer Bose stereo, so it was a pretty glaring issue.

I’m glad of that. Having a touchscreen is great, but the primary functions should still have physical controls. No volume knob is a deal breaker for me. I drove a Chevy Trax last year, and it had touch sensitive buttons for volume control, they were so goddamn annoying.

As far as I’m aware, once you set it up with your phone, it connects automatically when you start the car.

They aren’t worth it. I had one as a rental for over a month last year, and it was competent, but there was serious problems with the design and build quality. The rear pillars meant the Dart had the worst blindspot I’ve ever experienced, and we had to almost constantly keep a heater vent blowing on the passenger

Sounds like my MiL. We recently spent some time finding her a new car, and I was adamant that at least some of the cars we drove had physical buttons and knobs for the stereo. She’s competent with her phone and iPad, and she gets easily frustrated with technology, so mitigating that stress behind the wheel was crucial.

Seriously. If I was buying a new car, my first question about the infotainment system would be: Does this have Apple Carplay/Android Auto. If the answer is no, then the car is missing a crucial selling point.

Well, if you want to get pedantic about word choice, poor is a lack of money to live a life considered comfortable by society. Poverty on the other hand is being considered extremely poor, to the point that you’re unable to accommodate basic needs. The two might cover some of the same ground, but they describe two
