This isn’t much different from what’s been happening in grocery stores for years now, subtly slimming down packing in ways that makes it look like you’re still getting as much product as before. The ice cream cartons shrinking down a half inch on all 3 dimensions, the cereal box getting thinner, the punt on the bottom…

They were doing it that recently? I remember the .99 menu from like the early ‘90s — Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, “Biggie” fries, chili... some other things, but those were my go-tos.

The Wendy’s value menu from like 2005-2010 was the best. Everything was literally 99cents. Decent variety.

I’m always surprised, though I guess I shouldn’t be, how easy it is to get cops to go HAM with so little provocation and with no check in place to prevent obvious abuse in unwarranted situations.

So this is back to being a thing then and I will express no surprise when it results in another death, a “bad apple” conviction, lots of talk about improving safety, and then fuck all changes.

I’m still recovering from 40y of my mother pointing out that books are sacred and shall never be written in, underlined or highlighted - but annotate those MFs! Every recipe gets transcribed into weights, and once they’re good a few times they get done in ink. Joy or Julia, it all gets marked up.

The only sad thing about how good measuring ingredients by weight is is how few recipes list weights
