The fixation with minivans is this increased interior capacity which allows for much easier and widespread retrofitting (In this case it will be standard equipment) of ramps for handicapped persons. Thats the real bottom line. You can't put a ramp on a crown vic.
Actually not as expensive as you think, diesel typically runs the same price as premium (Ha! Premium, it's 93 RON, I think euro regular is 96 RON) gas, maybe $0.30 more. The issue is consumer idiocy and a lack of knowledge, but that may be changing...
