I'm sorry—John Williams was just an example of someone who writes more conventionally accessible scores. I think Jonny Greenwood is an example of a pop outsider who also is an incredibly talented composer who can actually score a film in the traditional meaning of the word and can use classical orchestration.

I totally disagree that you can't sit down and listen to the score for There Will Be Blood. I have listened to it a lot and think it is amazing. Just because it isn't filled with super catchy leitmotifs like a John Williams score doesn't mean anything.
