Do Europeans understand that there are lots of states in the US with different histories of race-related laws? For example that Massachusetts outlawed slavery before the UK did? I don't seem to recall this distinction being made whenever I've been lectured about the history of the US by Europeans.

We're told that it's okay as long as the cheese is pasteurized. It's obviously not the case here. You really don't need that much. You need a backyard, or a rented public space where you are allowed to bring alcohol.
