@Xagest: honestly it's hard to think very clearly during an earthquake. I've been in a couple of them, the most recent one the Easter Baja one, and your first thought is "will it get bigger? Do i have time to run outside"

I think concept cars are very important. For once, it's a way to gauge if people like your design without actually building a car. It's also a great way to showcase where the design language is currently heading. I don't think the auto industry would be better without them
