If he’d just called Garmon an ambulance chaser, I wouldn’t have commented. But he didn’t. He put every plaintiff’s personal injury attorney into that group. That includes civil rights lawyers, employment lawyers, products liability lawyers, and a host of other lawyers who help people who’ve been screwed or injured…

I’m not insecure. I’m an advocate. I advocate for my clients. I advocate for justice. I advocate for my profession. When people talk trash about lawyers, I stand up for what I do because I’m not ashamed of it.

And given that he’s made it impossible to evaluate whether he’s received a death threat, the only thing we have left to look at is his credibility.

Except that the current article suggests that the “bigger story” may not actually be a story. Because if he’s the only one who claims to have received death threats, and he’s not an EA developer, then maybe EA developers have not been receiving death threats. Right?

Except that lots of trial lawyers do personal injury work. For a lot of us, it’s our bread and butter. And that’s the work you labeled as “ambulance chasing.” I’ve done car crashes and I’ve done sexual harassment cases. I’ve sued insurance companies for bad faith and I’ve sued cities in Section 1983 cases.

Let’s be fair here. Trial lawyers, or as you call them “ambulance chasers,” routinely fight for the rights of individual citizens who get injured through no fault of their own. We take cases against big corporations on behalf of individual citizens. We count among our numbers people like Morris Dees, Thurgood…
