“Let’s all stop castigating people for well-intentioned, polite social interaction”.

Well it seems obvious now, but no one was around to tell the FBI about Rafael Cruz back then.

It’s a nice sentiment, but the fact is we know that some number of people will be shitheads. That’s human nature. You may argue that, fine, we’ll resign ourselves to the fact that we’ll be wasting money on these shitheads. But there are people who abuse their children. There are people who abuse their foster children.

I realize what the meaning of “no strings attached” is. My question is “why is no strings attached” a good thing? As opposed to having strings.

Ok but, how *do* you make sure that people receiving the allowance spend it on their kids?

ABLEIST. ABLEIST!!

We must raise awareness for homerun-shaming. Like kink-shaming and fat-shaming before it, we must call attention to this evil practice and say “never again will we shame someone for celebrating a home run”.

That wasn’t my interpretation from Joe Buck. He seemed more confused than pissed. (I was confused too, and it sounds like so was Barry).

The article was displayed at the top, and therefore I thought it was recent. You comment was in the first thread, so no digging necessary.

> Everyone who works for a living is labor.

Or maybe The Root isn’t The New York Times and nobody has heard of it or gives a shit about it. You seem to think anyone who calls is entitled to a response.

This is evidence of nothing. Suppose the airline needed to move one person, and they had 2 choices. They could ask the black person to move or they could ask the white person to move. If asking the black person to move, even once, is racist, then the only way to not be racist is to, whenever faced with this choice,

This article only makes sense if you view “white people” as one uniform bloc, in which all whites are upper-middle class or higher and more “powerful” than all non-whites. (If you in fact believe this then stop reading; there’s no potential for meaningful conversation here)

“As a white cisgendered male, the only way I can not be an oppressor is to commit suicide, at which point I will be blamed for occupying cemetery space. What’s the deal with white people in cemeteries? Don’t they understand that they’re displacing perfectly good grass that a minority child could have played on?”

19%, 13%, and 11% of white respondents said they had been personally discriminated against when applying for jobs, being paid equally or considered for promotions, or applying to or while at college, respectively

“I hate capitalism. But I’ll take those residual checks, thanks.”

200 American cities are morons — morons! — but this blogger, with zero training in economics or public policy, knows the answer.

HamNo, what is it that you do for a living?

Whether or not this David Cross story is true, I think we can all agree that Charlyne Yi is terrible (at comedy - I assume she’s an OK person).

Ah of course. Nobody is pure enough. The second she makes a statement supportive of women she is immediately flanked on the left for being too white and not nearly tribal enough.
