If we all used the resources provided by taxation in the same way, that might be true. business owners, especially the wealthy are more likely to use a greater portion of roads, an educated work force, law enforcement, federal insurance, credit markets, tax credits, natural resources, banking laws, trade agreements,…

I was replying to your assertion that wealth isn’t a zero sum game, when in so many aspects, it is. Our tax code is definitely too convoluted and could use major reform, but the rich should be taxed at a higher rate because they tend to use more public resources (such as infrastructure) than do the poor.

But our economy can not sustain that kind of income inequality. I just commented to someone else that the US hasn’t seen this kind of wealth gap since the 1920s which led into the Great Depression. Any idea what the tax rates were during our recovery from the depression?

I’m sorry but it has to be redistribution through increased taxation. There is only so much wealth to go around and currently it’s primarily held by the top percent. It’s not “trickling down” hence the ever-growing divide. There is no other way.
