The main difference between the CJ/YJ and their successor (TJ) is leafs versus coils. As a guy who has had both, I don't think I'd rely on leaf springs as a key element of the "Real Jeep" definition. The TJ's make great jeeps, and the newer JK's are complete beasts when they aren't burning to the ground for no good
