They can’t become a UFA until they are 25 at the earliest. My problem is just as much with the Draft and the fact they have no real power until they are a UFA. There is no other league equal to the NHL so they pretty much have a oligopoly.
I don’t think his trade value would be hurt too much by this and it not like he should care what he is traded for. There have been lots of guys labeled toxic and traded for good hauls some turn out some don’t.
If the team told him it was a conditioning stint when he went to the AHL then they lied, which is what the agent says. If they told him he needed to work on this and that and sent him down for ice time that I can understand.
