A Pretentious Atheist

I’m fairly confident that Ivanka will be indicted when this is all over. She’s obviously just as corrupt as her father, she’s just more socially aware than he is.

I took too many edibles and fell asleep on the couch last night. When I woke around 2AM i was still super stoned but didn’t realize it (I forgot I had taken the edibles). I checked CNN out of habit and saw this story and in my super high, super paranoid state became convinced that when Donald Trump woke up and found

It’s really frustrating that you can’t point out that trading in antisemitic tropes, even unintentionally, will always obfuscate whatever point was trying to be made without the entire commentariat jumping down your throat. Tribalism is rampant.

I’m still waiting for you to quote your own article that links the idea of social capital to socialism.

While I don’t think she was intentionally dog whistling, I can absolutely understand where other people would get that impression.”

And Michael Brooks, both prominent progressive, jewish voices.

Demonstrably, that does not happen. Germany banned Nazi imagery but the far-right is ascendant there.

Wonder if he’ll have to sell his collection of Limp Bizkit memorabilia to pay his legal fees.

I’ve already stated several times that I don’t.

If context doesn’t exist in this case can we fault people who took offense at what they saw as an anit-semitic dog whistle? Do you think everyone who was offended by what she said has political motivations, or do you think they recognize a canard that has been used against them for all of recorded history and took

I unabashedly love this movie. It’s pure chaos from start to finish and I think it’s even more entertaining than the Crank films. Sure, it’s an objectively bad movie, but it’s also uniquely compelling. Like a train crash.

Good luck convincing people to listen to your arguments when your point is, “Hey this person on the other side did it worse.” Trump tries that with Obama and Hillary Clinton all the time and it’s really compelling. It’s totally convinced me he’s done nothing wrong.

It is whataboutism. Definitionally. It’s tired and if you want people to take you seriously you should find a more compelling argument.

Bro, I have a BA in Political Economy. If you are using capital to dictate access to a good you are engaging in capitalism. If you would like to quote the section of the article that refutes this I would happily reconsider my stance, but I can’t find anything that ascribes social capital to communism.

Um, yeah I can. What she said was not offensive to me as I understood her intent, but I can understand why someone would find it offensive. Language is nuanced, and if we’re all going to take the least charitable interpretation of what others are saying we’re going to have a bad time.

I think our point of disagreement is if her words have any were loaded with any meaning, intentional or not. While I don’t think she was intentionally dog whistling, I can absolutely understand where other people would get that impression. I think John Olerud’s Helmet has put things in context much better than I

If I’m being honest, I find whataboutism the least useful form or political debate.

Sure, but unlike the confederate flag I’m not in a great position to give constructive criticism on the matter of Israel. I’m not Jewish or Muslim, and my own nation initiated 2 wars of aggression and has committed hundreds of warcrimes in the past 20 years. People in glass houses, and all that.
