I’ve wanted to be a professor since I was 19. The challenges I know I will face in finding a tenure track position are crushing enough without this garbage. Sending a big ‘fuck you’ to whoever thought this was a good idea.

TBH the most upsetting thing about this video is the implication that we can control the thermostats in our offices.

When I teach, I require my students to call me Dr Sexytits. Why ever else would I have earned my Ph.D.?!

Look, we all know saving energy is sexy as fuck, but it’s not the kind of thing you talk about.

Forget about the absurdity of the concept. Can we talk about the fact that she turns the thermostat down to 5* C (41* F) and all she puts on is a fluffy pink sweater? That temperature is the opposite of sexy, she requires several more layers.

The disconnect isn’t just between academia and reality. I was just chatting on another thread about the huge gap between all the teaching and school programming an family which goes into teaching gender equality and fairness to kids, and the daily unthinking casual sexism which our kids absorb daily and repeat. Right, because women faculty members are only there to satisfy the male gaze, not to teach or anything like that.

Wow, this whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. I’m so incredibly grateful for this absolutely righteous judge, but when I think about how many more of these guys are out there acting with impunity...it’s totally beyond frightening.

Not that this is surprising, but apparently a number of commenters on the Fox article about the sentencing accused the justice of posturing for attention and inappropriately making the sentencing about race. Because there’s no such thing as racism, unless it’s against White people....
