Not at all, a person would still have to look like the character they are supposed to represent to correctly adapt the material. Getting as close as you can within logic with a good actor is fine. Changing the race for no reason at all when you could find a great actor of the correct race is dumb.

Something that always bothered me about Dragonball Evolution. Yes, its a terrible adaptation that seems more like a Power Rangers riff than anything else, but everyone gets one fundamental thing wrong.

They need to revive/pick up Borealis, it was easily the best missed opportunity in science fiction.
