I’m starting to think there’s something wrong with this guy.
I’m starting to think there’s something wrong with this guy.
I've typed out like 6 different jokes but I can't bring myself to post any. This shit isn't funny. This fucker shouldn't be playing in the NFL right now making millions of dollars. He should be in jail or therapy or both. Fuck this guy.
“That’s like re-segregating the country, why would we want that? Besides of course the reasons Tucker Carlson and I lay out every night.”
Browns fans have tempered expectations down to only going 15-1.
They play in a division with 3 incompetently-run franchises. They feast every fucking year.
I’m a recovering alcoholic, and I was particularly moved by Crozier’s story. In the very worst of circumstances, he overcame his affliction bravely, and instead of destroying him, his suffering added to the wisdom and compassion he needed to guide the men - and himself - through what was to come.
Yeah I really liked how unpredictable he made everything. Also he was worth it for Mr. Blanky, and Hickey’s glorious “oh shit I was wrong” moment.
I’ve seen a lot of people saying that Tuunbaq was unnecessary to the story, because the real fate of these men is grim and horrifying enough. But that’s the point. Introducing a cool monster is what keeps this whole thing “fun scary” and not “depressing scary.” It adds a layer of unreality to the proceedings that’s…
I spent a lot of time wondering what Hickey’s plan was, but I think ultimately he didn’t have one once his dreams of getting to Oahu were dashed. I think Hickey’s reason for kidnapping Crozier was simply to take revenge for leading them into this mess, plus whatever rush he could get off dehumanizing him and showing…
or a Wendigo.
Sean: First of all, thank you for your sensitive, thoughtful, often poetic reviews of this series. I doff my (wholly inappropriate for the Arctic) hat to you.
Ah yes, the ‘long-forgotten, lonely cairn of stones’. And the note that...escalates quickly.
The stuff in the survivor camp was probably what I had the most questions about - what the hell happened to the bloke with the chains in his face? Did he do that to himself in the madness of it?
Also, screw it, but we really should get a second season or show with these show runners and cast, just taking on another material.
For some reason, when I watched this episode, I didn’t get that Silna’s wandering necessarily meant death, but I suppose you must be right.
Really wish I could unsee Goodsir’s half eaten corpse. Was one of the noblest, best men on the ship and that grotesque tableau being the last we see of him... i’m gutted.
Fun fact: that’s Professor Quirrel! I still can’t see it.
The most disturbing scene for me was the men sat eating their fellow shipmates on china plates. The contrast between those plates, representing civilized and polite society and the barbarism of cannibalism was just mind bending.
I despise Hickey so much that it is the hardest thing about watching the show. His smirk is worse to me than any murderous spirit bear. It’s an imperfect analogy, but he reminds me of Heath Ledger’s Joker at times. I don’t think he has a good-faith effort to survive in mind. He’s an agent of chaos. He’s just having a…
I want Crozier to adopt me and be the stern, but loving father I need. That sounds dirty in a way I did not intend, but will stand by.
