*Gerrymandering. Elbridge Gerry’s name must always be attached so we know who to blame for the practice.

I assume you mean that Trump is an example in the case against monarchs, dictators and presidents, given that he’s a president who really wishes he was either a monarch or a dictator (i suppose ideally, a dictatorial monarch), while simultaneously being a blubbering moron whose success defies rational explanation.

Is being nakedly political a bad thing? The 4495830 attempts to repeal the ACA were nakedly political, as well. The folks who were never going to vote for your team don’t like it, but they don’t like anything you do so who cares?

Once we get the green new deal here, we’re eventually going to have to go to war with China and other countries once they refuse to get on board.

It certainly sounds likely that they did possibly the whole season without knowing about the five year gap in Endgame. Which means that “alternate timeline caused by the events of Season 5" would be a good in- universe explanation.

They’re nowhere near that competent

Compared to what came before, it was downright microsurgery.

I didn’t care for it. Most sketches stopped being funny and started being annoying about halfway through. And apparently the writers think the phrase “mud pie” is the most hilarious possible euphamism for “shit” ever coined since they used it several times in the first episode alone. It’s the old SNL problem of not

That reason makes sense- starting your defense with a cavalry charge certain doesn’t, unless you hate horses.

This is the hardest part of the whole affair that I am having trouble wrapping my mind around. “Russian interference” that amounted to Facebook groups/posts and tweets somehow “influenced the election”?!?

I assume PV’s point is that merely not voting for someone is pretty much the rock bottom least you can do when it comes to keeping bad people out of power. It’s far from the only recourse you have.

I think pollsters are less “bad at their jobs” and more “fully aware that what questions get asked (or not) and how they ask them affects the outcome”. Polls are rarely as neutral as presented.

Three can be a bunch- just go look at bananas in the grocery store.

The only thing there is I can see the counter argument: Those wildfires, those hurricanes, aren’t necessarily caused by climate change, as those things happen anyway (which is true). And pointing out the increased frequency and severity of these (and other) events will get you a shrug, as they stick their head back

It’s also useful in some circles. If you get to declare any criticism at all as being anti- semitic, then you never have to actually argue idea vs idea, just call your opponent a bigot and go have a pint.

I fail to see how “raise hell” does anything on it’s own as far as being a “good quote” for the opposition. Politicians of every stripe love using the phrase.

It’s the weird mistrust of government. And even weirder absolute trust that corporations will always do everything they can for you (as opposed to the reality: as little as they can possibly get away with).

If there’s such a thing as a Black Mirror episode with a happy ending I’m not aware of it. The few I’ve seen are pessimistic bordering on nihilistic, and I’ve heard nothing to suggest they were outliers.

Maybe he’s trying to make the point that if New Zealand had a wall they’d have been able to keep the violent foreigner out.

The Simpsons made a joke about this almost 25 years ago. Bribing through donations to the school has been widely known for at least that long. Isn’t how George W Bush got in as well?
