As a stagehand who notably does not live in the New York area, I can safely say that 99.9% do not come from NJ/ Long Island/ Connecticut. They come from all over the world. As fro racism and misogyny... that probably varies according to region as well.

Given that some states prohibit law enforcement from destroying seized firearms (they must be sold), I strongly suspect that’s right. In fact, even just selling them off would have been better, in this case.

I would argue that this sort of action more or less proves mental illness. This is true of course for terrorists as well. The specific reason why someone decides to go out and kill a bunch of people is less important than the simple fact that they decided to do what is an inherently insane act.
