So thats wombat's "dark matter"? Now we know in which animal Nibbler was based.
That having 1 in a millon chances ensures success 9 of 10 times is his best science theory. Math is the science that goes over all the others.
Liked it too. Mixed a few great action scenes (specially the samurai/dragon ones), with a "logic" story on how that could happen, and when you think you managed to understand all the layers of it, comes that end. Was a mixed bag, different things with very different flavors, but at least for me worked.
I would put The Man in the High Castle into the parallel dimensions category, In fact, there are so many (better?) choices in that category that the 3 showns above. Asimov's The Gods Themselves is another good one in it.
Dune, or even Ender's Game, should fall into that category, or one that goes beyond it. Neuromancer looks pretty close to that too.
So with that vaccine any virus will be lethal for the cells (not sure if there are non lethal ones), as the mechanism just kill everything that thinks that is infected? What if something else (not a virus) triggers somehow the 1st or 2nd protein?
Is bad to put them all in a bag and say that everyone fits there. Some didnt worked hard, some actually made YOUR life harder, or the current/past economy unstable, or had put fences in imaginationland, or just made our potential future darker. In fact, a lot of them are that rich making everyone, wishing or not,…
What about things that you choose to not see, to not note in your concious of them, for some reason? Similar to the separation between vision and perception, but closer to your mind. Like choosing to not see what don't follow a pattern, or giving special weight to what follows it. Or forgetting that you are watching a…
The Cold Equation?
What if did your 5 year plan at the 1st half of 2008? How could had changed it what happened after? Considering the potential unstability in global economy now, planning or doing a big investment right now that could crash could be risky.
If all the intelligent people freezes themselves, probably they won't wake up in Futurama, but in Idiocracy, and not even them will be able to fix that mess.
NASA should send a tripulated ship there, things could be more strange that we think, and an AI could not deal with it. And, of course, we need someone to yell when all goes weird "Its full of stars!"
Just 4? Meego is open source too, despite being somewhat abandoned by Nokia and Intel. And will eventually come out Tizen. And those works as much as WebOS after this announcement... not less, not more.
Made, definately. Probably the same kind of physical brain improvement could be found in music players, people that talks in several languages, or play some kinds of games.
Obvious usually is recognized after, no before, it happens. What if would be obvious that the singularity wasnt like sci-fi put it, but was just internet? in 100 years could be "obvious" that it was the spark that changed everything, not like a full scale storm, but like a rain that slowly but in an unstoppable way…
Murphy's Laws are about psychology, not physics/causality/42/math. Is about how we notice/remember the bad (even slightly) things and ignore the normal/not extremely good ones. And once we think that there is some pattern, only notice what follows that pattern while giving less weight to the things that don't follow…
The road to time travel is paved with blue butterflies. Still PKDick's Meddler rules for me hinting the dangers of time travel, even if is just only for knowing the future.
Sweeping the dirt under the carpet?
