As soon as I sit down in a car for the first time, I always rest my left elbow on top of the door panel where it meets the window and reach for the steering wheel. If that triangle between my shoulder, elbow and left hand “feels right,” then I can look at the rest of the car’s attributes. That’s my specific thing.

We’re under a lot of pressure to add good comments.

As a lib, I'm feeling mightily owned.

The 141kW version of the B48 makes a bit over 200 lb-ft of torque through most of its rev-range, where the 4U flat-four in the 86 makes a peak of like 150 lb-ft all the way up over 6500rpm. The Supra will probably be faster.

As a volume oriented small sedan to replace the 320i in BMWs lineup, it’s probably fine. I would suspect that the coming M235 version with AWD and 300hp will be a hoot to drive.

Just a liftback body instead of a trunk

Yup

And THIS: “it’s my last chance to get this out of my system;” this is a bald-faced lie. There is ZERO chance that these sorts of quick questions end, unless your next post is a farewell. (and had better not be that)

Here’s the real test of this theorem: can we find a car that has an even closer resemblance?

A+ would read again.

Hey Kurt - the main story doesn’t credit the VLF portion to you, so thanks for jumping in down here and clarifying!

The point is that this is a review of a completely new car that has a completely new everything and my point is that we cannot base our commentary ABOUT THIS NEW CAR based on the lousy-ness of its predecessor. I have driven multiple F30's and F36's, and yeah, I still have my E90 for the same reason you still do: the

So like...  All of your complaints are everything that the article addresses.   None of you have driven a new G20, so none of you know if if it feels like a Driver’s Car again.

the M235i Gran Coupe comes out next year.   It’ll be a Mini in a different body, but there’s your 4-door 2-series.

There will be a 30i model that comes in below that.  I mean, this is a high-ass price for the six cylinder, but it’s not the entry price for the CAR.

G26 / Next Gen 4GC is confirmed for MY2022. The i4 will be based on that chassis, so they’ve pushed it out a year and have continued F34 and F36 into MY2021.

So they won’t do a “Mazdaspeed” version with the Big Wing and Fenders, but maybe a Signature trim with the 2.5L Turbo, AWD and probably the auto trans to fit the current paradigm. That could be something attractive, no? (doubt the MTX would survive into Signature level)

I’d love to drive my Ford Probe from home in PA to attend Radwood LA.

Tomi isn’t on the ballot.
