On one hand, this is certainly devastating to people who have spent a lot of time and effort in this legal grey area to have to come to terms with this crackdown. The speedruns were always very entertaining (I’d seen item abuse 3 myself and loved it) and it’s kind of sad that Nintendo is basically killing this off.
