I work in software, though not as a tester. QA is a terrific field to get into if you want great pay and a relatively fun job. The trick is to get into automation testing and stay away from video games. The games industry is likely the worst software sector to work in, due to tighter budgets and high competition.

That is crazy. I work in tech and our IT staff make minimum $60k. Many of the more specialized roles (build/release, security, etc) are making near six figures. And these are people with normal degrees from run of the mill universities. And then there are programmers that make six figures with little or no education.…
