I guess being conscientious will mean that you do better in school and get a decent job. But to get into real wealth you need to be exactly opposite. The corporate world rewards assholes that feed their coworkers to the wolves, take credit for other people's work, and generally suck up and lie. So if being…
Ugh, I like the Tesla Model S, and I like The Oatmeal, but this is awful. It is not funny, not insightful, and just plain boring fanboyism. I expect better from The Oatmeal.
So it may be expensive, but you only need to be able to afford the first payment as you're going to die shortly after that anyway.
I guess you have to be pretty bitter about life to work as a meter maid (or vice versa). They probably are just mad that they are basically the bottom of the totem pole for civic jobs.
I think that more people need to look at having a better paying job as a way to work less instead of having more money. Or, more likely, a bit of both. This is why I always ask for more vacation and a smaller raise as opposed to a larger raise. Of course this isn't possible for all jobs.
I thought that 'city workers' had some sort of code where they wouldn't ticket each other when they broke the law.
Does a "zero tolerance policy" ever work?
It's not murder. Murder requires intent. This is manslaughter. Putting the kid in jail doesn't help the victim's families or society in general. The legal system isn't about punishment it exists to try to make society better by locking up and rehabilitating criminals.
Yeah, screw all that research that has shown that this causes far higher rates of recidivism and ends up costing far more in dealing with the now life-long criminal. And ignore all that research that shows that these types of prisons have basically zero deterrence value over any 'club fed'. So basically if we want…
While what this kid did is terrible, it is no worse than many other drunk drivers out there that kill people every day. He certainly deserves jail time, but as a minor and first time offender, probably only a few months and a ton of probation and community service. People make mistakes, and while this one was a…
Perhaps he should have phrased it 'on every other horizontally aligned siding slat".
I was going to say that $32k for a Miata is a bargain, but apparently it is one of those cars that is far cheaper in the US than in Canada. The MX-5 GT is over $41k in Canada.
I'm guessing that the relatively poor fuel economy (compared to other small 4 banger cars) is a decent part of the reason. Many hot hatches are more powerful and get significantly better fuel economy and are slightly cheaper.
Yeah, there are a lot of BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Infiniti, etc, but few Cadillacs.
They've sold more than 50,000 of these? I don't think that I've ever seen on one the road. Of course Cadillacs in general are pretty rare where I live (Vancouver, Canada).
Honestly, I really just want a bit more low end power. I get that it is a great handling car and that is why I really want one., but I've taken a couple of test drives in it and it just felt like it couldn't get out of its own way without hitting 4000rpm. Maybe it feels a lot better with a manual (they didn't have…

So much want.
I saw a guy just outside of Whistler, BC with one very similar to this a couple of weeks ago. I did a really creepy slow drive by yelling compliments at him the whole time (he was in a drive-thru line). Wish I had photos, but I was driving at the time.
