I don’t know if the three get some of their humor from Andy, or Andy from them, you can tell they all hang out outside of the Top Gear Grand Tour production.

E30? E30! Coupe I see, also looks like you got one with the extended thigh supports, excellent choice (although I prefer my comfort vinyl seats). Any questions you have? I know this chassis fairly well!

I got a spark because it reminded me of my 94 SPI two-stroke. I wouldn’t even consider another brand of Sit down PWC. Kawi all the way for stand ups tho. Had an 87 550 fun as hell, I’m currently trying to get one from a co-worker so I can have some fun on one again.

Pull the valve cover and it’ll be sludge city.

Me and mathnerd thought you were responding to rabob_128.

The pictures are deceiving, I checked VIN build data, it was Titanium Silver to begin with.

CARB= California Air Resources Board, aka the reason you can’t import a grey market car into California.

Heel and toe is so you can match the engine speed to the gear speed, if you don’t, the synchros will slowly mesh the two together, speeding the engine up and slowing the wheels down. This wears the synchro out over time.

I have owned a 1991 318i for the last 5 years, and 44k miles. From owning and reading about the E30 gen as a whole, I can tell you that from about 1995 and earlier, M-Cars notwithstanding, BMW made some really stout engines. M10s are well known to be reliable with proper care (if not gutless). M20s have service lives

Minor wiggle: The differential is actually a Torsen unit with 3.31 gears not TruTrac

The 840ci made 282hp in the same car.

850ci is probably the best bet, they’re maintenance and repair is not terribly expensive and you get get a well sorted one for 15kish. Yes, they only make 300ish HP, but pillarless coupe for less than 20k Doug! Pillarless!

I used to own an 840i, if a new one is designed and isn’t a pillarless coupe, I will have a sad.

There will always be outliers. My maintenance statements stand, proper maintenance and EcoBoosts will go just as far.

You can wrench, you have a brain that works well. You either don’t have the time, or energy, or both to wrench.

EcoBoost is turbo+direct injection. You have to understand the general public is not Jalops; EcoBoost is a translation from Jalop-speak to Joe-speak. The 3.5 EB is a proven engine, in it’s short term as a production engine. I don’t see them have more or less issues than the 5.0L. Turbo alone is not inherently

You vastly underestimate the power of advertising.

If you don’t think marketing doesn’t play a part in racing you’re lost. Have you never heard the phrase “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday”? TT V6 suits the car well.

A 600 HP V6 TT is boring? Would you consider the same size engine in a flat configuration boring?

I don’t know why everyone gets so bent about the EB 3.5L. Why develop a modified 5.2L turbo FPC that is in turn a modified 5.0L CPC. When you have a proven race engine, that is more fuel efficient, in the 3.5L? It’s a race car, you use what will get you the win.
