Roads sucked before around 1950, when we started to build real highways. On a good, paved road, you don’t need the ground clearance those things had. Low and wide is inherently safer and more aerodynamic, so once you can do it you should.

Most people see their vehicle as just a tool, and the crossover fits those people perfectly.

The FXT has only been around since 2003, and a base 2.0XT Premium breaks $30k with taxes and destination charge. The new one is also fat and CVT only (although Subaru probably makes the least bad CVT on the market).

Matsumoto also discussed a more toned down version of the Type R “focused more on the grand touring aspect” to broaden the car’s target market. How exactly that will manifest itself would be interesting to see.

AccessPorts are stupid expensive, too, and it seems obnoxious to have to pay for yet another device when there’s no reason they couldn’t just sell an OBDII connector with the software and allow me to use my phone.

and the fact that the first car sold for $200,000 (it’s worth noting that the bid was for charity).

I have WaPo, NYT, and Guardian apps. WaPo has the best interface, but there’s one feature they could steal: the Guardian’s paid app lets you download the whole day’s paper for offline reading. You can set it to do it automatically, and it’ll let you do previous days. Great for flying, or if you’ve got a wifi only

Also, no fucking thoughts about how they might need that emergency room one day and it’ll be full of people going there for colds?

Any clue how they’ll do this?

Didn’t the manufacturer go out of business?

Same. I had manual ones until my current car. I actually asked my service guy about it when I first bought the car cuz I thought it was broken.

That doesn’t help when the jerk with the high beams is in the next lane.

That change in angle moves the mirror so a different prism surface is pointing at the driver. One of them is more reflective than the other. Wiki claims this feature was pretty much universal by the 70s. They’re not always the most reliable source, but it was on my first car, which was built in the early-80s and

Yes: it’s a penalty, not a fee for a service. We don’t have universal healthcare here, let alone government provided universal healthcare. What a horrible situation that would be, what with the poor thinking they have a right to live or something...

Which bizarre hit on the first page are you referring to? This:

How did they react when you explained that she’d be lucky to get 8 weeks of parental leave and her husband/your son wouldn’t be getting any?

I hate you right now.

Ahhh! Pleasant thoughts...
