You can certainly do it: the GRC STIs have 500-600 hp using a stock EJ207, as did that ridiculous Isle of Mann TT car Prodrive built last year. They also don’t care that much how long the engine lasts.

The advantage of buying a faster car from the dealer should be that you get some sort of warranty protection. Otherwise you might as well buy the car and parts separately, which, as Tom points out, should be cheaper.
